"So what sort of trouble were you always getting into? Late night drinking, some sticky fingers, or were you smooshing around with some of the local beauties?" she asked him with a slight grin and quirk of her eyebrow. He seemed like the type of guy who was pretty lucky when it came to the ladies, and it was obvious that maybe kids in their high school years were sneaking beers.
Though her high school years were much different than everyone else's. While everyone was out partying and drinking beer she was busy running around killing the creatures that went bump in the night.
There were a few times that her adoptive parents allowed her to take a few sips of the liquor in their house, but it was usually to help with the pain when they were tending wounds.
"I'm here for a little of both." she told him with a bit of a secretive smile and leaned a little forward on the table to look at him. "But so far it just seems like more hard work than actual fun."

“Not all of those things, no,” James couldn’t help but laugh. He had been busy being devout, putting his religion before anything else and taking care of those in need. It seemed foolish to him now and it was quite funny to remember how short-lightened he had been. Now, at least, he had a fighting chance of staying alive for a little while longer.
He still hadn’t decided yet if he would let Shiloh go after this. He was tempted to make her another one of his hits but she amused him- so he had room for doubt. James could afford to let a couple of hunters go, if only for the amusement of them being idiotic enough to die on their own. And having this Shiloh girl around for a little while longer seemed like a fun plan.
“Oh really? Both?” James snickered. “That’s a tall order. It’s no wonder its turning out like mostly hard work. This town isn’t good for entertainment.” He shook his head, “As much as I love it here, this place is a stick in the mud.”

"So if this place really wasn't all that fun what did you do here for fun when you lived here?" she asked trying to keep up the facade of being just another normal tourist. She could not risk letting anything slip that told him that she was different than most people. It was hard enough with the fact that her eye patch drew enough attention to herself already.
So she had to make sure she kept throwing out seemingly normal questions to ask him which meant she would learn a lot of pretty useless information about him. It had always struck her as odd at how she seemed so much differ from the other girls her age, who were probably more worried about finding the right guy. While Shiloh on the other hand was usually more focused on getting to the next day in one piece.
Hell she could not even remember the last time she was even worried about boys, it might have been high school. But as the years passed by she always seemed to have more pressing matters on her mind that settling down with a guy. Though she doubted she would find anyone that would even remotely fit the bill for that. As she had quite a few quirks that they would have to deal with not to mention be strong enough for the line of work that she did.

James wasn't lying completely. A couple times he sp0ke the truth such as now. He could tell she was diverting the questions away from herself and it amused him. Shiloh didn't even realize that he figured out she was a hunter.
"Mostly country stuff, as cliche as that sounds." His nose crinkled at the thought, leaning back as if he was relaxing on a nice plush arm-chair. "Horse-back riding, fishing, hunting frogs...playing pranks on the neighbors. Silly stuff. That was when it was easier to be amused. As I grew older it started boring me and so that's another reason why I left."
All his love had been showered on his horses, the land around and his friends and family. He had been hesitant to leave in the first place and was upset that he had to. That had been even before he met Gwen. "I could show you around if you'd like though, I remember everything fairly well."

"That must have been fun to do back then." she commented as she had heard the types of things that he had used to do when he lived in the area. None of the things that he had mentioned were anything that she did when she was growing up. Although sometimes she and her adoptive parents lived out in the countryside they never got near doing anything like horse-back riding. Not only did they not have the money to even buy one, it would have only slowed them down when they traveled as they would be forced to bring it along with them, and that would have caused a number of problems.
Even though she spent a good deal of her childhood learning how to hunt and track the things that went bump in the night it did not mean that her childhood was entirely tragic. She had manage to somehow find fun in between her 'training'. She remembered climbing trees a lot for fun and also hunting around for tiny little animals but to practice and hone her reflexes. Which definitely came in handy as she had gotten older.
She mulled over his offer to show her around town as a part of her wanted to be very suspicious of the young man. Since she never knew who was truly trying to be helpful and who was just pretending so that she would lower her guard. On the other hand it would be useful to get a local's tour of the town instead of trying to find everything herself.Reluctantly she decided to agree to his offer.
"Sure why not." she answered him after a good few minuets of complete silence on her part.

Another deep swallow of his beer and James shrugged. The alcohol burned his throat in a pleasant way and gave his body an extra little kick to wipe away the weariness that threatened to came upon him. It was fairly early still... he had slept well and there was a lot to do. He never retired early- it would be a crime against the nightlife. The beautiful nightlife that would be coming hours from now. Ah well, it would be time to enjoy such things later, for now he had a beautiful young woman in front of him.
James laughed, grateful that she had agreed, "Excellent!" He stood up, stretching his limbs a bit with a grin. "It's a small town so there won't be any strenous walks ahead of us. Just some nice strolls." He hadn't fully decided whether he wanted to hunt her or not but James would have a bit of fun walking around with her before he made up his mind.
"Now, what would entertain you more? Walking by an amusement park, going inside to have some fun, or going around the little shops down the street?" There was quite a lot of little things to do in this town. Something for everyone, his father used to say.

She pondered the options to presented to her for a moment. Though it was probably more thrifty to walk by the stores to see where she would be able to stock up on supplies and other things she might need, but the thrill of possibly visiting a amusement park was a little hard to ignore. She had only been to one when she was much younger as after her accident she really did not have anytime for that sort of thing. Hunting monsters was pretty much on the top of her list of priorities most of the time.
"The amusement park." she told him deciding to take a little gamble and have herself a little real fun. "It's been a long time since I've been to one." she admitted to him and to her surprise she was feeling just a tad bit excited just thinking about it. It was almost as if she was a little kid again just waiting for her parents to to drive her to one. Except this time she was more capable of going onto rides by herself then needing to be hoisted into them.

“It’s very well-kept,” James kept his smile firmly in place. Normally his impatient would have gotten the better of him and he would have either slipped or tried rushing things but he quite enjoyed how things were going so far. It was light and easy but he wouldn’t let his guard down. There would be a time and a place for the hunt in the future. Death was an art form, nothing to be taken lightly with aggravated hands.
It was an interesting choice. James hadn’t expected such an answer from a hunter but she seemed different from most- especially with that eye patch. What was she hiding? Was her eye blind or perhaps something more intriguing had happened to it…? “The Ferris wheel is the best part. Largest one in the state.” He winked, before actually thinking about where they were headed. “It’s rather old-fashioned and some things need more paint but very stable, safe and fun.” Fun was such an odd, interesting word to use. James barely ever used it.
