For the most part even with Rin's moves, the creature just kept coming at her with all it's force. A couple times it slowed down and was disoriented but even in those stages it was a force to be reckoned with. Gwen pulled another couple of shots, grumbling under his breath because they were rather sloppy and didn't fully hit the target.
She blinked in surprsie when the final cut was made and the spinal cord was severed, rendering the creature weak and off guard. Rin had been more helpful than Gwen thought... not that she would have blamed her if she wasn't. There were many human victims who just didn't stand to par with the supernatural baddies in the world.
Gwen smirked, knowing what to do and delivered the coup de grace. It was a rather flashy move but the only thing Gwen cared about was killing it. She jumped back, wary, wondering if she really killed it but now it was immoble and after a few minutes of waiting nothing happened. She sighed in relief and sagged a bit. So much for her day off.

As the creature collapsed and stopped moving, Rin slumped back against the nearest booth with a noisy sigh. "Jesus fucking Christ. This is so not worth three seventy-five and hour and tips." And then she started to laugh, weakly but with real humor. She moved over to the cooler and pulled out a pair of longneck Budweisers, the management could front her the cost of two cheap beers, and popped the top off both. Sliding one across the counter to Gwen and taking a very long pull of the other, she finally got to asking, "So what the hell was that thing? And, for that matter, what are you? Nothing human, that's for sure." She'd seen the way the blonde moved, nobody outside an Ang Lee movie could actually do that, not and be human. Gwen gave Rin a gentle smile. It was always hard to experience your first, or even your first many hunts first-hand. "You were a natural." She pointed out, her smile growing. Rin showed great prospect of becoming a hunter if she so wanted.
She opened the bottle and took a swig before nodding. Rin deserved an explanation especially after so traumatic an experience. "A zombie. Though not a normal one. I haven't seen one that smart or strong in a long time." Her smile faded for a moment but she sighed and continued on trying to be strong. "I am an angel. I know many humans do not believe in such things anymore but that is what I am."
Gwen held out her hand, "If you are wounded, give me your hand and I can prove to you my powers of good." Healing was her speciality and she was very proud of it. It was full of life and rejuvenation, not the death and destruction that many of her siblings sought out.

"So zombies are real," Rin sighed, sounding more resigned than surprised. "Great." When Gwen claimed to be an angel, though, the TK's eyes widened visibly. An angel. An actual angel. Rin didn't know why she'd assumed that angels weren't real even though she knew very well that demons were, but there it was. She wondered what that said about her worldview, that she'd made that assumption. She wondered whether Gwen could tell that she'd read the His Dark Materials books and liked them. She wondered whether she was actually damned for liking to read porn on the internet, and if it would be blasphemy to ask. Hesitant, not because she exactly doubted the blonde's statement but more because some things are too precious to be admitted easily, Rin stretched out her hand toward the angel's. She wasn't badly hurt, just some scrapes and bruises, a cut on one thigh where she'd fallen against the corner of one of the prep tables in the kitchen. It didn't matter, Rin wanted to know. She wanted to know, she wanted this permission to believe in what Gwen claimed to be. [atrb=border,0,true] Tagged: Gwen, and anyone else who wants to play. Gwen's smile widened, sensing Rin's doubt but also hope. She closed her eyes, holding her hand in both of her own and whispered in latin, calling upon her strength from Heaven, "Caelitus mihi vires," Power, the warmth and very core of it rushed through her body and then over Rin's. It healed everything instantly, no light or flashy occurences, just instantaneously.
She opened her eyes, the soft smile never leaving her face. "I believe a person is judged on their actions and the goodness they show, not petty things they have taken part in." Gwen couldn't read minds but could sense Rin's slight unease before her curiosity and hope had taken over.
Most humans thought back to moments where they had done some things they believed was no in accordance to the Lord. Some of her siblings were strict about his teachings but Gwen believed the Lord was more merciful than vengeful.

Rin kept her eyes down, dropped nearly closed as the feeling of warmth and...she didn't know how to say it, it was just a feeling of goodness that came flooding through her body. She wouldn't know how to describe it, what to compare it to. It was nothing at all like sex, except that it was this all-over feeling of good that her brain read as pleasure for lack of any other point of reference. More, it was the confirmation that this existed. That it was real. That with all the ugliness and hurtfulness and indifference and cruelty in the world, there was holiness too. God wasn't just a beautiful lie, goodness wasn't just something that she had to believe in without proof. There really was a balance, there really was something out there in the world to offset not just the monsters and the demons but the hard-mouthed women telling lies to get their way and the men with hearty, jovial voices and flat assessing eyes who'd watch her go by and think nobody could see the speculation. It wasn't anything noisy or dramatic, at least not on the outside. Rin just stood very still and assessed the lack of pain that was there in the wake of the healing and, far more importantly, the change in her understanding of the world. Two tears slipped down her cheeks, the right side falling faster than the left, but she never looked up as she murmured, "Thank you." Just that, because what else was there? Gwen could feel the relief and happiness that Rin felt. It was one of the things she liked best about her ability to heal. She was able to repair and mend, not destroy, and sometimes what she could heal was also in a person's soul and heart not necessarily just the body. "You're welcome." Gwen held Rin's hand in hers for a second longer, squeezing it comfortingly before letting it go with a gentle sort of tenderness that one would use on a child.
"What do you plan on doing now?" The residual warmth and joy that Gwen felt while healing started to fade away until she finally felt the normal rise and fall of her chest that was similar to being human. It was times like these that Gwen was very glad she had not given up her grace. Her grace could help others and it provided spiritual relief to many. Only a select few had experienced Gwen's healing and she was sure that the experience would stick with Rin for a very long time if not her whole life.

Awkward, jerky in her movements as she struggled not to either grab for Gwen's hands and beg her to go back to being angel-y or to go all embarrassed and gruff at showing so much of herself in the seconds that had just passed, Rin picked up her beer and took a swallow. The tickle of carbonation cleared the thick feeling out of her throat and let her say in a fairly normal tone of voice, "Quitting my job and blowing town. You?" A pause and then she laughed, and like her earlier laughter it was rough with the stress and alarums of the past hour but there was real humor behind it. Rin's essential Candideness was reasserting itself. "Oh, hey, by the way, my name's Rin Cooper. Ariana, really, but Rin's what I prefer. Nice to meet you?" She laughed again, genuinely amused that they'd fought this battle without knowing one another's name and that now she was introducing herself to an angel. Life, huh? Gwen nodded with a reassuring smile. "Sounds like a good plan to me. I wouldn't stick around this place after all of this mess." She briefly let her eyes glance over everything and noticed that everything was practically destroyed anyhow. Gwen must have been too distracted by the fight to really notice any of the damage that had actually taken place. She had been more concerned about saving the lives of the humans in this place. "I suppose I shall be moving on as well. I'll find someplace else to help others."
She considered it quickly before smiling gratefully. Gwen appreciated the gesture of introducing oneself. Many of the people she helped just thanked her and got the hell away from her. Gwen couldn't blame them. She did tend to be a magnet for trouble. "My name is Gwen." Morgan was the last name she took upon herself in rare occassions, a momento to the vessel she know inhabited who had possessed the same name but in this case it wasn't useful knowledge. "I'm very glad I could have been of assistance."

"It's very nice to have met you, Gwen." No doubting the fervor in her voice. Rin looked around the ruined diner, down at the corpse of the...corpse on the floor, and then ducked around through a side door and came out a moment later with her purse and jacket. "I'm leaving before the cops show up," she decided. "I'm in no mood to answer questions." She held the door open for Gwen, smiling wide and cheerful at her despite the constellation of blood drops drying on the front of her white t-shirt and the slight pallor of shock that was adding a few apparent years to Rin's age. "You have a really, really good day. And, uh, sorry about the salad." A final grin and then Rin saluted Gwen and headed around the side of the building to the employee parking area to pick up her car and get the ever-loving hell out of this place.
