SLAUGHTER, LOUISIANA
The air outside was rather humid which made it feel like the temperature was even hotter than it actually was. Which was not surprising as the Louisiana weather always seemed to be that way especially in the much warmer seasons. But it was usually the tourists and visitors to that town that suffered from the unbearable heat as locals had long since learned how to deal with the sweltering weather.
Which was exactly why Lillian felt nearly nothing as she walked down the very picturesque downtown street. It was filled with old store fronts that were built way back when the town first started. Thankfully the town had decided to keep the street looking very nice and had planted quite a few flower beds along it. That was part of the reason why that particular street was one of the few places in town that she was quite fond of. She never got tired of seeing the variety of flowers that helped brightened up the street.
She could only hope that the humans of this town would not mess that up like they seemed to do with most untouched pieces of land in recent times. It angered her how easily the humans seemed to disregard nature's beauty and tear up land to build more of their precious store buildings. Feeling her anger rising by the second she forced herself to shove those thoughts away as she did not want to ruin her day yet. She had not even gotten her daily dose of fresh herbal tea. which was where she was headed at that moment.
Gazing down the street she could easily spot the familiar coffee shop that she liked to visit nearly every other day to see what sort of new blends of tea they managed to get that day. The pastries sold in the shop were also pretty tasty which was an added bonus to her. She could feel the corners of her mouth tugging upward as she imagined what sort of surprises she would be greeted with that day.
It seemed like today would be just like any other ordinary day in this quiet little town, she thought to herself. Well as ordinary as she could manage she added with a laugh in her head.

Heat? Oh the heat didn’t bother him, well, not much. After being in Hell for so long, you kind of got used to warm temperatures. Still, for appearances sake, he made sure his vessel at least looked warm. Even though it was warm for today he was still in his business suit best. Only, for right now his jacket was off and he was carrying it on his arm. He was going to get a drink to cool his throat and quench his thirst. Tea was on his list at the moment, thoghh and ice glass of water would do just as well right now.
Cain wandered down the street with a spring in his step and he was humming softly to himself at the moment. He paused, looking in the window of one of those Mom and Pop restraints, leaning on his cane for support as he looked inside. He peered in for a moment before taking a step back and continuing on his way. As he moved along he looked along the rows of flower, admiring them and making a mental check. He quietly quizzed himself over the various species that lined the way and he also looked to see how they were fairing; if they were being properly taken care of.
He shifted and paused long enough to move his suit jacked and cover it partially over his arm and partially over his cane. He smiled softly as he leaned over a planter of various flowers; foxglove, ghost flower, and a few irises were speckled within. Cain smiled a little as he lightly lifted the petals of one of the irises closer to him. He had never been one with a green thumb, but to see plant life bloom eventually, it made him very happy. Still, he was not here to study how the city was taking care of its plants.
Cain licked his partially dry lips and actually followed Lillian inside. He didn’t know her, nor did he really care at this point. He was more concerned with getting a few cups of fresh ice tea right now. As he followed her inside he waited in line, as patiently as he could. He didn’t have much patience but he could put up a good front when he needed to. Interacting with humans could be so…distasteful at times. He lightly leaned on the silvery oval head of his cane while he stood in line to place his order.
The demon was lost in his own thoughts for now. He didn’t even notice the bit of a vibe…that Lillian was giving off. He silenced his humming after a few moments and rolled his eyes, checking his expensive looking watch as he pondered how long this would take. He was ‘retired’ so he didn’t have anything to do. It wasn’t as if he was adhering to some sort of schedule…
