OVERALL PERSONALITY:
Sam is a rather reserved young man; quite the opposite of his brother, Dean. Despite his apparent reservedness, the younger Winchester is an amicable individual and enjoys the company of those closest to him considering his occupation does not allow him to be as social as he once was. He prefers a peaceful environment and attempts to alleviate problems in a diplomatic manner. However, desperate times often call for desperate measures and he is not afraid to drop tactful conversation in order to blast a demon full of buckshot when lives are threatened.
The hunter rarely loses his composure. Although, he tends to suppress emotions and when he is pushed to the limit his pent-up feelings take over all at once, every now and then causing him to do something he will later regret. He strives to make up for his shortcomings by willingly placing himself in harms way in order to save the people he cares deeply about as well as those helpless against the supernatural forces. In spite of the label placed upon him and the demon blood running through his veins, Sam is determined to counter destiny and remain the moral man he always has been—he knows Dean will be there to keep him on course.

don't go around tonight
HISTORY:
Sam is the second son born to John and Mary Winchester. At the tender age of sixth months old, the youngest Winchester was visited by the demon Azazel due to an agreement between the aforementioned and Sam’s mother. That night Mary met her untimely demise, altering the Winchester’s lifestyle forevermore.
His childhood proved to be exceptionally abnormal and Sam felt out of place among his peers. His family constantly relocated, traveling from state-to-state, their home typically a rundown motel. Due to the continuous moving, Sam was removed from schools as fast as he had been enrolled. Unable to forge everlasting friendships, his brother, Dean, proved to be his closest confident.
However, it was not until age eight did Sam become aware of his father’s occupation as a hunter. He desperately yearned for an ordinary life and subsequent to the discovery of the dreadful truth, his yearnings intensified. Nevertheless, he could not leave his family despite his willingness to do so. For several years, Sam halfheartedly followed John’s instructions and gradually crossed the threshold into the world of hunting the things that go bump in the night.
Luckily, Sam took advantage of his newfound adulthood once he turned eighteen and chose to walk a different path than his father and sibling. He attended Stanford University, finally attaining the normalcy he had desired for an extremely long time. In the course of studies, he met Jessica Moore and their relationship blossomed into a worthwhile romance; the two eventually moved in with one another, sharing an apartment in Palo Alto.
Four years passed before Sam was drawn back into the life he had tried so hard to escape. Reluctantly he left the safety of his home and Jessica’s side in order to search for the then missing John Winchester with Dean. The hunt proved to be virtually fruitless and the twenty-two year old’s life drastically changed upon his return; that night his girlfriend of two-and-a half years was murdered right before his eyes. A part of Sam still regrets parting ways with his former girlfriend and the image of her bound to the ceiling, engulfed in flames—dying in the same manner as his mother—haunts him.
Jessica’s unfortunate demise spurred Sam to resume hunting alongside his brother, aiming to locate the demon responsible and take its life in an act of revenge. While the Winchester siblings pursued their father’s obscure trail and leads pertaining to Azazel, they protected numerous lives by hunting malicious paranormal entities.
As Azazel’s plans come together, Sam is unwillingly separated from his brother and relocated to a deserted town in South Dakota. The psychic children are pitted against one another and despite his beat efforts, the hunter receives a life-threatening stab wound by Jake Talley.
Subsequent to the battle and Sam’s miraculous awakening, the Winchester brothers follow Jake and Azazel’s trail. He exacts vengeance by taking Jake’s life in an attempt to stop him and the demon from unleashing a demonic army. Regardless of their best efforts, and Azazel’s demise, Hell’s Gate is opened and numerous demons escape Hell.
Not only do Sam and Dean now have a fresh wave of demons terrorizing earth’s inhabitants to deal with, the younger Winchester discovers that his sibling made a deal with a Crossroads Demon to resurrect Sam.
Greatly distressed by the news, Sam vowed to find a loophole in Dean’s contract and save his brother—at whatever costs.

ROLEPLAY SAMPLE:
Sam’s heart skipped a painful beat as he glanced across the room at his brother. Less than a year remained before the elder Winchester’s untimely death and Sam could not bear the loss of his sibling. Averting his gaze, he stared at the computer screen. He had already attempted to break the deal, however the outcome proved fruitless. Come what may, the hunter would overcome any and all obstacles in order to salvage Dean’s soul. Despite his brother’s less than optimistic outlook, Sam would continue searching for the loophole in the contract until hell froze over.
Abruptly drawn from his reverie, he focused on the information displayed on the monitor. “I think I’ve found something,” he said, hoping they now possessed the lead they had been adamantly searching for. His eyes skimmed over the numerous articles he managed to unearth subsequent to hours of unsuccessful investigation on the subject matter. “I’m pretty sure we have a restless spirit on our hands. The deaths, they’re all reminiscent of old Pagan myths; preferably the ancient Greek sirens and Slavic rusalka.”
“These spirits were always jilted by their lovers in some way, shape, and form, and committed suicide by drowning themselves. All the victims have been male and listen to this: supposedly, a young woman by the name of Sarah O’Keefe washed up on the shore of Lake Fenton five years ago. The authorities labeled it an accident, but the murders occur the same day every year—the anniversary of her death. I don’t think this is a coincidence Dean.”
